Action, adventure, satire, and the human condition!

These are some of the things comic artists explore through the world of comics. Comic art is extremely popular around the globe — from funny comic strips to social commentary. In this exciting workshop, students are introduced to the process of creating comics — from idea to finished art. They’ll create their own comic strips (developing plots, penciling and inking the pages, etc.).

Working with industry professional Alex Simmons, students will create their own original characters. They’ll write a character biography and a plot for their first story. They’ll practice planning, collaboration, patience, and problem solving.  And finally, students will be learn how to publish their own comics on paper, or the web. So join the class and explore the fun-filled world of creating comics now!

Summation

When venue permit, students will also benefit from appearances by other comics professor.  They’ll meet graphic designer, computer colorist, video producer, recording engineer, set designer, etc.). The appearance of these specialists is at the discretion of the facility and would require additional arrangements agreed upon in advance.
